The Rivercity Bluegrass Festival is coming up in Portland, OR on Jan 9-11 2009.
This years festival has a great lineup with a lineup that has some of the best banjo players of all time on the lineup.Dr. Ralph Stanley, J.D. Crowe, Bill Keith, Tony Furtado, Bill Evans, Tony Trischka, Jens Kruger, Ronnie Stewart. Both traditional (Stanley, Crowe,Evans,Kruger and Stewart) and progressive (Keith,Furtado and Trischka) are well represented.
Longview will be making one of their few appearances of the year at the festival. Longview is a superstar band comprised of musicians who due to the fact that they have regular “day job’s” (they all are in other bands full time) This band brings together J.D. Crowe, James King, Lou Reid, Ronnie Stewart, Don Rigsby & Marshall Wilborn!!
Dr. Ralph Stanley and The Clinch Mountain Boys makes an all to rare appearance on the west coast at the festival.
Another band making a rare appearance are the Whites who will be having former band member Jerry Douglas performing with them.
Add to this workshops and jamming and you get the perfect indoor winter weekend.
